About Kerner’s Auto Service
Kerner’s Auto Service has proudly served Shelby Township since 1973. We are a fast-paced, full-service independent repair facility working on all makes and models. Our shop is clean, organized, and built around professionalism, training, and long-term career growth.
We are not looking for an entry-level lube technician.
We are seeking a career-minded General Service Technician with at least 3 years of hands-on experience performing mechanical repairs beyond basic oil changes and tire rotations.
The Role
We’re looking for a technician who is building strong technical skills and takes pride in doing maintenance and light-to-mid-level repairs the right way. This role supports shop efficiency by completing work accurately, following procedures, and working reliably alongside senior technicians and leadership.

What You’ll Do
- Perform routine maintenance including oil changes, tire rotations, and fluid services
- Complete brake, steering, suspension, and cooling system repairs
- Perform mechanical repairs beyond basic maintenance
- Assist with engine performance and light diagnostic work
- Use scan tools and basic diagnostic equipment
- Complete thorough digital vehicle inspections and document findings
- Support workflow by moving vehicles and assisting other technicians
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area
- Work closely with service advisors to ensure efficiency
- Participate in paid training and ASE certification advancement

Requirements (Non-Negotiable)
- Minimum 3 years of automotive repair experience
- Experience performing mechanical repairs beyond oil changes
- Ability to use scan tools and diagnostic equipment
- Strong understanding of vehicle systems
- Valid driver’s license
- Professional attitude and team mindset
Strongly Preferred: ASE or state certifications
